Sundays are for spoiling myself! And by spoiling myself, I mean taking longer in the shower/bath . . . soaking, exfoliating, pampering 🙂 I have all day, right? No rush. Just off-key singing and luxuriating until I’m wrinkly or the water runs cold. Ah, the life! During this time I can really focus on my face. Leisurely. So sometimes I do a mask, and other times,  I do a good ol’ scrub-a-dub-dub, which is what I’m sharing today. I’m into cosmetic scrubs as much as the next girl, but there’s an unmatched satisfaction I get in making my own batch. A true labour of lush love. Plus as the ingredients are all natural, and delish, they’re literally good enough to eat. And I have! haha.  Just yummy.  Especially my go-to turmeric cleansing facial scrub.
Ingredients:
- Turmeric powder (anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory cleanser)
- Honey (moisturiser)
- Sugar – fine or coarse, whichever you like (exfoliator)
- Fresh lemon juice (cleanser and brightener)
- Aloe vera – optional (soothing)
Measurements really depend on how little or how much you need, just make sure it is fluid enough to smear and textured enough to rub. I’m not really good with conventional measurements so I just do what feels right . . . Â I’m quite intuitive. Plus I know tradition dictates mixing the dry ingredients first but being the iconoclast that I am, I break all the rules and add sugar last! Ok, real deal: I add the sugar last so it doesn’t get to dissolve fast.
Once you mix them all, you can start exfoliating. Just get right in there with your hands and pick some up them start gently scrubbing it on your face using small circular motions. Abeg, gently! Faces are delicate. Scrub for a couple of minutes or until you feel it’s enough, then wash with water. You can use your soap/cleanser of choice here too to get the yellow from the turmeric out. Moisturise as usual and voila! The smoothest freshest skin in town! If you wish to only cleans but not exfoliate, you can use the same combination minus the sugar. Once in a while, I like to apply some fresh aloe vera gel right after this scrub just for some cooling and soothing, in case I went in too hard.
A little warning: the turmeric powder will probably stain your hands yellow, sorry! You can rub some of the sugar and lemon on your hands to get it off, or wash with soap. If any of the scrub remains, it can be used on the rest of the body or refrigerated in an airtight container for later. Try it out soon. You’ll love it!

How do you make yours?
I use the gram flour one. So basically I put gram flour, lemon, tumeric and some yoghurt… then apply the paste…You can use it as facial and body scrub.
