Perfect Pedi

“Keep your feet on the ground when your head’s in the clouds.”

My whole life, I’ve had some Barefoot Contessa tendencies. At least in my head. I love nothing more than the feel of earth, grass, sand, even concrete and carpet beneath my feet. It makes me feel so alive! As much as I love shoes and especially gorgeous high heels, I’m most comfortable without. It’s simply divine. Unfortunately, this means my feet get tore up from, well, the floor up! All the time. I go from Contessa to Frodo Baggins. Oh di fouf. However, as a Pisces, my feet are my designated body part so I do have to tend to them and keep ’em looking pretty. So pedicures are a beloved necessity. Nothing makes me happier than getting my feet pampered. And I recently experienced the most perfect pedi in all the land at Tribe Hotel’s Kaya Spa – Village Market.

It was late in the evening and I just wanted to zone out while someone tended to me. My mind needed to wander back up into the clouds and my sole needed the week’s tension kneaded out. I was soooo ready for it, and my spa therapist Joyce was ready for me. Her bright smile greeted me and bless her soul, she offered me a drink. Green tea was my choice, because again, I needed some zen. She brought out the tea in a beautiful little Chinese tea pot and cup set, honey on the side and proceeded to take care on my sole, and little did I know it, my spirit too.

The pedi took some time because Joyce is a perfectionist beautician who has a love for what she does that is simply inspirational! She was attentive, professional, charming and girlfriend knew her thang! While I was sipping away on my soothing green tea, she gave me the best pedi of  my life. I did not once have to stop her from doing something that would make me dissatisfied (read vexed). A pedicurist after my own heart. From the shaping of my toe nails to the massage to the application . . . #flawless! She even helped me pick a colour (Essi 12 in Bordeaux) based on my undertones. Undertones guys!  Just wow!

We spoke about work and passion a lot and I learned so much from her. It may be cliche to say but she changed my life with her positive energy and optimistic views. And my love for full ranges when it comes to beauty products was sufficiently quenched. Essi all the way. From the nail polish remover to the scrub, masque, oils and polish. Hummanah hummanah! I was truly impressed and tended to. The Kaya pedi experience was perfection and I know Joyce and I will be seeing a lot of each other. My sole mate! Thank you so much for everything Joyce.

After my blissful beautification and life coaching, I was famished and went for a lovely candle lit dinner. It was a special night indeed. Sometimes, the Universe aligns itself in your favour. And sometimes, a pedicure makes it all ok.

I felt like I was having a pedi with you! And Essie colours are the BEST…I’m currently wearing a deep burgundy called ‘Bahama Mama’ which is so gorgeous for this weather! You’ve convinced me to seek out Joyce and Kaya. Inspiring.

No kidding, I was actually about to do Bahama Mama but it would have been too dark on me. Next time you’re there ask for Joye. Not only will she hook you up, but she will inspire you with her good energy and optimism. Thanks for reading and commenting and sharing! xx
