Because my skin is dry/dehydrated, anything that claims to be hydrating automatically seduces me. So when I got this Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating skincare gift set from Sugar Punch Kenya, I was excited to try it! Yes To is a brand that is known for their clean, natural skincare and beauty products made from the best fruits and vegetables and this coconut range is no different. It contains over 95% natural ingredients which means all the benefits of nature without the complications of too many chemicals and that’s always a win especially for sensitive skin, like mine. Yes To Coconuts Ultra Hydrating skincare range has been designed specifically for dry skin to help it recover and restore itself from being flaky and rough to beautifully smooth and supple. Yes please! But I did have one main reservation: smell. Scents are very important to me and I do not like the smell of coconut oil so I was worried about that. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the entire range ended up smelling like a cocoa butter ice-cream (at least to me). So keep in mind that they are scented. I’ve been trying out this range over the last 3 weeks or so and so far, so good. The coconut oil goodness has been coming through! Love it!
The cleansing wipes come in a hefty pack of 30 which lasts a while. They contain coconut oil and water among the key ingredients which is super because coconuts have antimicrobial and hydrating benefits for skin. The wipes work well in cleaning/freshening up the face and body and taking off makeup as an initial step before cleansing). To take off a full face of makeup I use about 3 wipes which is pretty much my usual amount with any other wipes. I can’t say there was anything outstanding about these other than the security in knowing the coconut infusion would help my skin over a normal wipe.
Unlike the other cleansers in my rotation, this Yes To Coconut Creme Cleanser is an oil-based cleanser containing virgin coconut, avocado and chia seed oils. Can you say rich? It feels so luxurious and creamy in texture and on my face. If you’ve ever used an apricot scrub before, it has that same creamy feel to it. It doesn’t lather at all (SLS free) which makes me feel like I’m getting a spa cleanse. As creamy as it is, it really cleans the makeup and dirt from my face and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy or heavy. I actually feel moisturised and don’t have to rush to get moisturiser on for fear of drying up after using it . . . none of that dry or tight sensation. Even while it’s scented, it doesn’t irritate my sinuses at all and I find it to be quite a gentle cleanser for my dry and sensitive skin. I’ve been using it morning and night and loving how hydrated and supple my skin feels. I’ve been loving it.
Like the rest of the range, this Yes To Coconut Souffle Moisturiser smells ahhhhmazzing! I have to keep reminding myself not to taste it. It looks and feels so rich and buttery which made me weary at first. It’s an oil-based moisturiser containing virgin coconut oil, jojoba oil and shea butter. All really great, but for a lover of water-based moisturisers like me, I really didn’t think this would be something I would like. At all. But I gave it a go and it won me over. It feels a little silky and oily on first touch but once I rubbed it in, it got absorbed into my skin easily and dried down to a soft but not oily finish. Shook! No residue, no greasy feels, no stickiness. It’s quite moisturising and comfortable to have on and leaves me soft and smooth without too much fuss. I have been using this at night however because while I do love the scent, I try not to wear anything with a distinct fragrance during the day as I like my perfume to be the star and to set my mood.
I know with all the focus on skincare lately and everything from 8 to 12 steps being preached, it can be a little intimidating or fussy. But it really doesn’t have to be. As much my usual routine (video here) is a little comprehensive, I have enjoyed the simplicity of this range. Sometimes all skin needs is a goo cleanser and moisturiser. And if you’re just getting into skincare or trying to figure a routine out, that’s a great place to start. Because clean, hydrated skin is healthy skin. It’s simple, natural, gentle and effective. For someone with oily/combination skin though, this might be too rich. So I’m saying yes to Yes To coconut skincare range! It’s definitely hydrating and light enough for daily use. And you just can’t go wrong with so many natural ingredients. I’m glad to make these additions to my skincare squad!
